이 연구는 국내 체류 외국인 유학생들의 성공적인 학업 적응 방안에 대해 제언하기 위해 충남 J대학 유학생 230명을 대상으로 학업, 대학생활, 학업 적응 관련 요구 등에 대한 설문조사를 하였다. 외국인 유학생들은 한국 기업에 취업하기 위해 한국의 대학에서 유학 생활을 하고 있는데, 학업 과정에서 언어와 문화 적응에 어려움을 겪고 있으며, 이러한 어려움은 주로 동일 언어권 유학생들 간 의지를 통해 해결하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 수강 신청 과목 선택, 기숙사와 같은 거주 환경에서 다른 문화권 학생과의 생활, 취업 및 단기 아르바이트 정보 획득 등에서 어려움을 겪고 있었다. 유학생들의 학업 적응에서 가장 필요한 것은 튜터링, 멘토-멘티, 한국어능력을 위한 한국어수업 등과 같은 한국어 능력 향상 프로그램이었다. 유학생들의 성공적인 대학생활과 학업 적응을 위해서는 대학뿐만 아니라 지역사회도 많은 관심을 가져야 한다. 또한 유학생들을 지역특화인재로 육성하는 시스템을 구축하고 특화된 교육콘텐츠를 제공해서 보다 안정적으로 대학생활과 학업에 집중할 수 있도록 해야 한다.

The purpose of this study was to discuss ways for foreign students staying in Korea to successfully adapt to their studies. To this end, a survey was conducted on 230 foreign students enrolled in J University in Chungnam on their studies, life, and academic adaptation needs. Foreign students are studying for employment in Korean companies. In the academic process, language and culture are struggling, and these difficulties are mainly solved through the will among international students of the same language. In addition, they were having difficulty in registering for classes, living in the same dormitory as students from other cultures, and obtaining employment information and short-term part-time job information. The most necessary things in the study of international students were programs such as tutoring, mentor-mentee, and Korean language classes to improve their Korean language skills. In order for international students to successfully adapt to their studies, they must pay a lot of attention not only from universities but also from local communities.
