유학생의 대학 생활적응을 위해 다양한 비교과 프로그램을 개발, 진행하고 있으나 지역문화 탐구에 초점을 둔 동아리 활동 프로그램에 대한 논의는 부족한 실정이다. 유학생 대상 지역문화 학습은 유학생 유치와 대학 학업 이수 그리고 취업에 걸쳐 지역사회와 기민하게 연계된현시점에서 유학생을 지역맞춤형 인재로 육성하는 데에 필수적인 부분이다.
지역문화 탐구 동아리 활동은 ‘오리엔테이션-탐방 장소 선정 및 자료 검색 탐방장소 이해 탐방의실제 탐방보고서 작성 탐방보고서 발표 및 피드백’으로 총 6회차로 실시하였다. 학습자들은 자발적 동아리 참여는 한국인, 외국인 선후배나 동료와 관계를 맺는 데에 도움을 주고 협업과 자기 주도성을 학습할 수 있다는 점에서 긍정적인평가를 하였다.
지역문화 탐방 동아리는 학습자가 머무는 지역의 독창적인 문화를 습득하여 지역문화 이해 역량을 강화하는 데 도움이 된다. 또한, 협력 기반 활동으로 상호 소통 능력과개별적 책무감을 학습하여 대학 생활 적응, 대인관계 유지에 도움이 될 것이다.
Various extracurricular programs have been developed and implemented to help international students adjust to college life, but discussions are not enough about a club activity program focused on a local culture inquiry. Learning local culture on the part of international students is essential to their cultivation into custom local talents at a time when the community is smartly linked to their attraction, completion of a college course, and employment.
The study developed a club activity for local culture inquiries in six sessions including “orientation-selecting a place to explore and searching materials-understanding the place to explore-the reality of the exploration-writing an exploration report-presenting the exploration report and getting feedback.” The learners gave a positive review to the activity as they were able to learn through cooperation and self-directedness by forming relations with predecessors, successors, and colleagues who were Korean or foreign through their voluntary participation in the club.
A club for local culture explorations can help learners acquire the original culture of the area where they stay and reinforce their competence to understand the local culture. As they also learn communicative ability and individual accountability through cooperation-based activities, they will contribute to their adjustment to college life and interpersonal relationships.
