서울 소재 4년제 대학교 한 곳을 선정하여 그 대학에 재학 중인 외국인 유학생을 대상으로 자료를 수집하였다. 연구의 주요 분석 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 외국인 유학생의 문화적응스트레스 중 부분적으로 적극적 대처와 소극적 대처에 유의미한 영향관계가 있다. 둘째, 외국인 유학생의 대처방식이 유학환경 적응에 미치는 영향 분석 결과 적극적 대처와 소극적 대처가 높을수록 일반생활적응이 높아지며, 적극적 대처가 높을수록 대인관계적응 및 학업적응이 높아지는 것을 알 수 있다. 셋째, 외국인 유학생의 문화적응스트레스(향수병, 문화충격, 지각된 차별감, 지각된 미워함, 두려움)가 적극적 대처 및 소극적 대처에 미치는 영향에 있어 사회적 지지의 조절효과를 분석한 결과 하위요인 별 일부 영향 관계를 조절하는 것으로 확인할 수 있다. 따라서 외국인 유학생의 문화적응스트레스를 낮추기 위해 이들이 겪고 있는 적응과정에서 올 수 있는 스트레스의 유형, 유형별 대처방식에 대한 교육, 적응에 요구되는 관계적응, 학업적응, 일상생활적응 등이 원활하게 이루어질 수 있도록 사회적 지지의 수준을 높이는 지원 방안이 마련되어야 할 것이다.
This study was conducted to identify related factors to verify whether social support moderates the factors that affect coping strategies. To verify this, we selected a four-year university in Seoul and collected data from foreign students attending that university. The main analysis results of the study are summarized as follows. First, there is a significant relationship between active and passive coping among international students' acculturation stress. Second, as a result of analyzing the impact of foreign students' coping style on adaptation to the study abroad environment, it can be seen that the higher the active and passive coping, the higher the general life adjustment, and the higher the active coping, the higher the interpersonal adjustment and academic adaptation. Third, as a result of analyzing the moderating effect of social support on the impact of foreign students' acculturation stress (homesickness, culture shock, perceived discrimination, perceived hatred, fear) on active and passive coping, some of the sub-factors were analyzed. This can be confirmed by controlling the influence relationship. Therefore, in order to lower the acculturation stress of international students, we provide education on the types of stress that may occur during the adaptation process, how to cope with each type, and help them smoothly achieve relationship adaptation, academic adaptation, and daily life adaptation required for adaptation. Support measures that increase the level of social support should be prepared.
