[논문 초록]

본 연구는 한국 대학생들이 유학생들을 어떻게 생각하는지의 주관적 인식을 토대로 공통적인 특징과 다양성을도출하고 이를 유형화하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구방법은 한국 대학생들의 유학생들에 대한 인식의 유형을 구분하여 살펴보기 위해 Q방법을 사용하였고, Q표본은 한국 대학생들의 인식과 관련된 문헌고찰, 인터뷰내용, 설문지등을 통하여 최종 33개를 선정하였다. 연구에 참여한 P 샘플 수는 한국대학생 총 31명이었다. 자료 분석은QUANL 프로그램을 이용하여 주요인분석을 실시하고 관련 유형을 분석하였다. 연구결과, 유학생들에 대한 한국대학생들의 인식유형은 5가지로, 유형 1은 유학생들에 대해 긍정적으로 생각하며 학교에서 함께 학업을 수행하는 동료의식을 가지고 적극적으로 수용하는 특성을 반영하여 ‘시너지를 발휘할 수 있는 긍정적 공존형’, 유형2는 유학생들에 대해 배타적이며 경쟁적인 느낌을 반영하는 ‘공정성 추구의 배타적 방어형’, 유형 3은 대학생활을 하면서 본인이 느끼는 유학생들에 대한 감정을 자신의 문제로 바꾸어 인식하는 ‘세계관이 좁은 자기중심적판단형’, 유형 4는 유학생들을 미래 한국 사회의 구성원으로 생각 할 의향은 있으나 현재는 대학 생활에서 보이는 모습에 거부감을 느끼고 있는 ‘피해보기 싫은 거부형’, 유형 5는 유학생에 대해 관심을 가지되 개인적인 거리감을 두는 ‘관계를 거부하는 이성적 수용형’ 으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과가 한국 대학생들과 유학생 두 집단의 소통과 협력을 촉진하기 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있기를 기대한다.

This study aims to derive typology of how Korean students perceive international students by sorting the features of responses by commonalities and differences. In order to achieve this, we used Q method, and Q samples were selected from literature reviews, interviews and questionnaires and 33 questions were finalized. QUANL program was used for factor analysis on 31 subjects . As a result, total number of valid types of perception of Korean college students were five. Type 1 is a ‘positively coexisting for synergy ‘group that refers to group of students who think positively about international students, have a sense of collectivity, and actively accept them as a partner in college. Type 2 is a ‘exclusively defensive for equitability’group that holds exclusive and competitive feeling towards international students. Type 3 is a ‘critically egocentric with a narrow world view’ group which tends to be critical about international students based on their own experience and Type 4 has a willingness to think of international students as members of Korean society in the future, but it is named ‘rejective avoiding disadvantage’ type because they refrain from coworking with international students due to their reluctant attitude and behavior. Type 5 is a ‘reasonably acceptive without relationship’ group that cares for international students but keeps personal distance from them. This result is expected to contribute as a basis for promoting communication and cooperation between Korean and international students.
